Safety

Meet, inspect and collect safely

Estate sale transactions happen directly between buyers and sellers. Keep communication clear, inspect before paying and make a safe pickup plan.

For buyers

  1. Read the listing, session times, pickup terms and address status before travelling.
  2. Ask questions through the listing and inspect the item in person.
  3. Do not send deposits, gift cards or cryptocurrency to secure ordinary pickup items.
  4. Bring help and suitable transport for heavy goods; do not rely on the seller to load them.
  5. Leave if the location, item or requested payment differs materially from the listing.

For sellers

  1. Keep the exact address private until your chosen release time.
  2. Have another adult present and control access to non-sale areas.
  3. Describe defects, collection constraints and accepted payment methods clearly.
  4. Never publish identity documents, alarm details, keys or personal records in photos.
  5. Report threats, suspicious payment messages or prohibited items promptly.

Emergencies and fraud

Call 000 for immediate danger. For suspected cybercrime or online fraud, preserve messages and payment records and report through the appropriate Australian authorities. The page report control alerts our moderation queue but is not an emergency service.
